Bengaluru, August 13, 2026 — Deeksha Vedantu’s KMWA PU College in Mahalakshmipuram played host to a proud moment for the Deeksha Vedantu family today, as Dr. Krishna B S, an educator who has spent 15 years shaping students at Deeksha, was felicitated for setting a new India Book of Records title: the Longest Car Journey to Umling La by a Specially Abled Individual.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Harish R, representing the India Book of Records team, who presented Dr. Krishna with the official India Book of Records certificate recognizing his title for the Longest Car Journey to Umling La by a Specially Abled Individual, in the presence of dignitaries, students, faculty, and members of the Deeksha community.
Dr. Krishna’s expedition covered over 1,261 kilometers across ten days, taking him from Chandigarh through some of the most demanding terrain in the country — Zojila Pass, Kargil, Leh, and Hanle — before reaching Umling La at 19,024 feet, the highest motorable pass on Earth. He completed the entire journey behind the wheel himself, without a support driver.
For those who know him at Deeksha Vedantu, the achievement is consistent with a career built on the same conviction. Alongside his role as an educator, Dr. Krishna is an accomplished bodybuilder who has competed at a national level, a life shaped, in his own words, by refusing to let assumptions about his body define what he could do.
Dr. Krishna B S said: “Deeksha Vedantu has been home for 15 years. It’s where I found that teaching and proving are the same act. I didn’t take on this drive to set a record. I took it on because I wanted everyone to see, not just hear, that disability is not inability. Every pass, every kilometre of that journey was a lesson that I will carry my entire life and I hope it inspires my students never to set limits to their dreams.”
The recognition places Dr. Krishna’s name among India Book of Records’ roster of “extraordinary feats by extraordinary people.” It’s a title earned not in a studio or a stadium, but across ten days and 1,261 kilometres of some of the country’s most unforgiving terrain. For Deeksha Vedantu, where he has spent the last 15 years shaping students, it’s a milestone that means something more: a living example of the belief the institution has always tried to instil in its own students.
